On An All-New The L.A….

Like a failing prime-time comedy-drama, the Lake Show with Kobe Bryant is trying to add new characters to spice things up a bit.  Kobe found out that the wrong way to revive something is to score a thousand points in a game, and make a spectacle out of nothing, ala the old “Jump the Shark” technique.  Jackie MacMullan seems to think the “New Kobe” is trying to pull his team up, rather than use them as a water ski ramp.

It seems to be working.  The Lakers are 30-19 as of their Monday win in Atlanta.

Kobe’s assists average has gone up a mere one per game, but others around him seem to think they’re getting a few of the punch lines and getting written in to more compelling storylines.

Just ask Greg Popovich: “He’s an intelligent player trying to help his team win.  He is trying to make that transition to the team player who makes everyone better. You know, the Michael thing.”
