Mavs Humiliate Lakers

In one of the worst Lakers loses ever at the Staples Center, the Lakers were crushed 108-72 by the red-hot Mavericks last night in their first game home from their disappointing four game-four loss road trip.

The Dallas Mavericks, coming off several days rest, extended their winning streak to 17 games- a franchise record and the best in the NBA this season.  The Lakers, on the other hand, earned their sixth straight loss and have only won 3 of their last 15 games.

Though Kobe changed things up slightly by not elbowing anybody this time, the result was all too familiar these days: a humiliating loss with a bunch of forwards on the bench.

The Lakers hit the road again on Thursday to face Denver, but after that you can get Lakers tickets at StubHub.com to the Portland game on Friday.  If the Lakers lose both of those, though, they will find themselves at .500.

Bryant Elbows, Lakers Lose, Again

Lakers guard Kobe Bryant was retroactively assessed a flagrant foul following review of a play during the Lakers loss to the 76ers on Friday night.  Bryant had caught Kyle Korver in the face when he threw up his elbow to clear room as he dribbled.

No foul was called at the time, much like the two earlier incidents with Ginobili and Jaric.  Also similar to the two other incidents, Korver expressed surprise at the decision, saying “It’s no big deal.”

Although the play was never in danger of causing Bryant another league-mandated suspension, it did attribute one point to Bryant’s flagrant foul total, as the play was deemed a level 1 flagrant foul.  As this is Bryant’s first flagrant foul of the season, he is nowhere near the total of five that must accumulate in order to require suspensions.

Still, the Lakers have been making the ESPN headlines for their dirty play and not their playoff push, which is dismal.  The loss to Philadelphia put the Lakers at 33-30, and ended their horrible road trip with yet another loss.

You won’t have to elbow anybody to get Lakers tickets at StubHub.com.  There are plenty of great seats available, all of which should be out of Kobe’s flail range.
