Lakers Trail Suns 3-1

April 30, 2007

The Los Angeles Lakers are now down three games to one in their opening round series versus the Phoenix Suns. Steve Nash had a brilliant night on Sunday, dishing out a near-record 23 assists in route to a 113-100 victory in Los Angeles.

The Suns implemented a much faster pace to their offense last night, on that had been lacking in their game three loss to the Lakers. Said Suns coach Mike D’Antoni, “The speed of the game was ours. They surprised us with their intensity in Game 3. Today wasn’t a surprise. We have our system, and we ran it pretty good today. We had 34 assists on 41 baskets and that’s because of our spacing. That’s what we do — we’ve done it all year.”

Things look grim for the Lakers, and the fans who are wanting to get Los Angeles Lakers tickets at StubHub.com for a potential game 6 at home at the Staples Center. Very few teams have ever come back from a 1-3 deficit to win a series. Of course, The Dallas Mavericks, the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, are also hoping to overcome a 1-3 deficit. Things might get interesting in the NBA playoffs.

Kobe Comes Alive in Game 3

April 27, 2007

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns 95-89 last night at the Staples Center. Kobe got hot in the fourth quarter and carried his team to victory, chalking up 45 points in the game. The Lakers now trail the Suns 2-1 in the series. They play again tomorrow night in LA.

The most telling statistic out of the game was Kobe’s 45 points. In playoff games where Bryant scores at least 40 points the Lakers are 4-1. Los Angeles Lakers ticket buyers have known that basic fact for a long time now. Fifteen of Kobe’s 45 points came in the fourth quarter, a time when the Lakers needed a consistent scoring threat in both this game, and game one. The difference between a win and a loss, therefore, is if Kobe can get going down the stretch.

Whether by luck or good defense, the win was made even more possible by the fact that it was relatively low-scoring, and the Suns were kept out of their typical quick strike style. If you’d like to see a potential game six, you can still get tickets at StubHub.com, your source for great NBA playoff tickets.

Lakers to Climb out of 2-0 at Home

April 26, 2007

The Los Angeles Lakers will play the next two games of their opening round series with the Phoenix Suns at home in the friendly Staples Center. Down 2-0, the Lakers face the daunting task of coming from behind in a format that heavily favors those who have home court advantage, and those who win the early games.

Luckily for the Lakers, and those who want to get Los Angeles Lakers playoff tickets for a potential game six at the Staples Center, the Suns will have to beat LA at least once at the Staples Center to stop the series from making another trip to Southern California. The Lakers were much better at home this year. Their record at Staples was 25-16, whereas their road record was 17-24.

Kobe Bryant will have to show up, and show up big-time. Home or not, the Lakers simply can not win without a consistently scoring Kobe. With any luck the Lakers can find a way to slow the game down. This will force the Suns play in the half court on offense instead of running free to the basket all night. If you’d like to see these next couple of games in this exciting series, I suggest you check out StubHub.com, your source for improbable comebacks.

Suns Burn Lakers in Game Two

April 25, 2007

The Phoenix Suns played a near-perfect version of their frenzied, fast-paced offense last night, en route to a 126-98 beat down of the Los Angeles Lakers. All five starters on the Suns scored in double digits and the newly crowned Sixth Man of the Year, Leonardo Barbosa, proved again that he couldn’t be stopped, adding 26 points to the Suns effort.

In a game that was only close for the opening few moments, the Lakers were repeatedly abused by the quicker, hungrier and more talented Suns offensive machine. Steve Nash, the catalyst of the Suns’ scoring proficiency, dished and shot his way to 16 points and 14 assists. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in the scoring department… with 15 points. Nine of those 15 were scored in the first quarter.

The Lakers and Suns will take the series to the Staples Center on Thursday. People getting Los Angeles Lakers tickets to that game will be expecting to see some sort of response from the their team. Statistically, coming back from a 2-0 deficit is nearly impossible, however the Miami Heat did it in last year’s NBA Finals. If you’d like to see if the Lakers can do it against the Suns, then you should check out StubHub.com, your source for great NBA playoff tickets.

Lakers’ Game Two: Tonight

April 24, 2007

With the Phoenix Suns leading in the opening round series 1-0, the Lakers will attempt to even the score tonight at the US Airways Center. Game two tips off at about 7:30 tonight, and after that a lot of questions will be answered about how the Lakers will react and respond to the Suns after their opening game loss a few days ago.

Said Lakers guard Kobe Bryant yesterday, “I don’t think anybody feels particularly bad about the Game 1 loss. I think we’ve learned some good things. Now we’re trying to carry them over to Game 2 and see if we can’t duplicate the success that we had last year”

The main question for people who are going to get Los Angeles Lakers playoff tickets for the Lakers’ home games this series, is will Kobe be able to carry the Lakers all the way through the game this time? Also, is Jessica Alba really a Lakers fan?

Will the Lakers be able to capitalize on any mistakes made by the Suns, or will this season’s Lakers whittle another chip off of Phil Jackson’s playoff coaching record? Will somebody stay in front of Barbosa? Will StubHub.com still provide the best seats even to sold out games? Of course!

All will be answered shortly. Maybe.

Lakers Fall to Suns in Game One

April 23, 2007

The Los Angeles Lakers were beaten 95-87 on Sunday in the opening game of their first round series with the Phoenix Suns. They will play again in Phoenix on Tuesday night.

Unlike the Golden State Warriors and the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers could not manage to get a road game victory against one of the clear NBA title favorites over the weekend. Kobe was hot in the first half, scoring 28, but cooled down dramatically in the third and fourth quarter, ending with a game-high 39 points. Leandro Barbosa came off the bench for the Suns to lead Phoenix with 26 points. Amare Stoudemire added 23 and Steve Nash had 20 points and 10 assists.

The Lakers saw a halftime lead quickly vanish in the third quarter. Then in the fourth Los Angeles could only muster a measly 10 points. As Kobe went 1-10 from the field, the rest of the Lakers team watched and waited for somebody to do something. Though the strategy hasn’t worked all season long, Odom, Walton, Parker, and Brown figured waiting it out was due to pay off in the playoffs. Maybe next game.

For most of those loyal Los Angeles Lakers playoff tickets buyers out there, this game will go down as a big missed opportunity. The high-scoring Suns struggled to score at times, especially in the first half. Nobody, with the exception of Kobe, thought to take advantage of the Sun’s off day. Good thing your source for great playoff tickets, StubHub.com, always scores in the clutch- great seats, that is!

Lakers vs. Suns: The Match Ups

April 20, 2007

One thing that sports writers love to do in the days before a big game or a big series is to break down, player by player, the match ups that will play out in the “game-within-the-game” between two teams. This is most ineffective when done with the Super Bowl, and although I really don’t believe in the match ups theory all that much, I just can’t help myself. Here they are, the Lakers’ starting five versus the Suns’ staring five- first team to three player-vs-player wins gets the series prediction. Let’s get it on!

Point guard: Jordan Farmar vs. Steve Nash: There hasn’t been a match up this lopsided since the first Gulf War. Suns win!

Shooting guard: Kobe Bryant vs. Raja Bell: There hasn’t been a match up this lopsided since the second Gulf War… then again, there is a timetable of seven games. Lakers win!

Small forward: Luke Walton vs. James Jones: Jones seems to be the only weak spot on this Phoenix team, and here is a position that the Lakers might exploit. Lakers win!

Power forward: Lamar Odom vs. Shawn Marion: The numbers say Shawn, and lamar hasn’t been himself for most of this season. Suns win!

Center: Kwame Brown vs. Amare Stoudemire: There hasn’t been a match up this lopsided since the point guard match up. Suns Win!

So by the imperfect formula spelled out above, the suns should take this one. Of course, you can see it for yourself if you check out StubHub.com for some Los Angeles Lakers playoff tickets.

Lakers Win in Sac, Slated for Match Up with Suns

April 19, 2007

The Los Angeles Lakers clinched the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference after defeating the Sacramento Kings on the road at Arco Arena.   The 117-106 victory sets the Lakers’ opening round series against the No. 2 seeded Phoenix Suns.

The loss ends the season for the Sacramento Kings, who will finish at 33-49, their worst record since 1998. The Kings needed a victory tonight to keep from having a losing home game record.  It has been over 13 seasons since the Kings failed to break .500 at Arco.

Kobe Bryant scored 34 points in his effort to avoid a date with the Dallas Mavericks, the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.  A fight against the Suns is something that people buying Los Angeles Lakers playoff tickets ought to welcome, all things considered.  Last year the Lakers were up 3-1 in their battle with Phoenix, before eventually losing the series in seven games.

Also of note, Kobe Bryant won his second consecutive NBA scoring title.  His 31.6 points per game beat the second place finisher, Carmelo Anthony, by almost a full two points.

If you are in the mood for rematches, then check out StubHub.com for Los Angeles Lakers playoff tickets for a home game at the Staples Center. The Phoenix Suns are the overwhelming favorites, but for some reason the Lakers seem to have their number.

Lakers Versus Kings at Arco

April 18, 2007

The Los Angeles Lakers will play the Sacramento Kings tonight at the always frenzied home court of the Kings, Arco Arena.  The Lakers’ first round match up in the playoffs depends on the outcome of this game, as well as the result of Golden State’s game against Portland.

Currently, Golden State and Los Angeles are tied in the standings at 41-40.  This game tonight against Sacramento will not only determine whether the Lakers play Dallas or Phoenix, but it will also be a deciding factor in determining if it was a “wining” season.  If they lose, the Lakers will be a .500 team.  Nobody, especially Phil Jackson, wants that.

No matter who they draw in the first round of the playoffs, the Lakers will have their work cut out for themselves. Dallas and Phoenix both have vastly superior records, and can score at will against most teams. The Kings, who are currently eighth in the NBA in points per game, will be a good trial run against a team that can score points in bunches.

Los Angeles Lakers tickets for the game tonight will be to the last tune-up before the much anticipated postseason. Check out StubHub.com for some seats to their playoff home games against either the Mavericks, or the Suns.

Hanging On To A Chance

April 10, 2007

Los Angeles Lakers lost 155 to 111 against the Denver Nuggets Monday night.  That chased off their chance of finishing sixth in the Western Conference putting them one and a half games behind the Nuggets, and two games ahead of Golden State and the Clippers for eighth place.  If the Warriors lose one more game and the Lakers can win one more it will grant the Lakers a playoff berth, but not by much.

“We can get a hot streak.  We just want to get to a place where we’ve got some type of rhythm; we’ve got some type of accountability.  We’ve got four games here to kind of right that ship,” said Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, “I’m confident.  I’m optimistic that we’ll play much better.”  Fans need to support their team and get tickets to Lakers’ games on StubHub.com.
