Lakers Win in Sac, Slated for Match Up with Suns

The Los Angeles Lakers clinched the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference after defeating the Sacramento Kings on the road at Arco Arena.   The 117-106 victory sets the Lakers’ opening round series against the No. 2 seeded Phoenix Suns.
 

The loss ends the season for the Sacramento Kings, who will finish at 33-49, their worst record since 1998. The Kings needed a victory tonight to keep from having a losing home game record.  It has been over 13 seasons since the Kings failed to break .500 at Arco.
 

Kobe Bryant scored 34 points in his effort to avoid a date with the Dallas Mavericks, the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.  A fight against the Suns is something that people buying Los Angeles Lakers playoff tickets ought to welcome, all things considered.  Last year the Lakers were up 3-1 in their battle with Phoenix, before eventually losing the series in seven games.
 

Also of note, Kobe Bryant won his second consecutive NBA scoring title.  His 31.6 points per game beat the second place finisher, Carmelo Anthony, by almost a full two points.
