The Phoenix Suns played a near-perfect version of their frenzied, fast-paced offense last night, en route to a 126-98 beat down of the Los Angeles Lakers. All five starters on the Suns scored in double digits and the newly crowned Sixth Man of the Year, Leonardo Barbosa, proved again that he couldn’t be stopped, adding 26 points to the Suns effort.
In a game that was only close for the opening few moments, the Lakers were repeatedly abused by the quicker, hungrier and more talented Suns offensive machine. Steve Nash, the catalyst of the Suns’ scoring proficiency, dished and shot his way to 16 points and 14 assists. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in the scoring department… with 15 points. Nine of those 15 were scored in the first quarter.
The Lakers and Suns will take the series to the Staples Center on Thursday. People getting Los Angeles Lakers tickets to that game will be expecting to see some sort of response from the their team. Statistically, coming back from a 2-0 deficit is nearly impossible, however the Miami Heat did it in last year’s NBA Finals.
