Gasol to Remain on Plain in Spain

You might remember that the Los Angeles Lakers drafted a Spanish power forward/center named Marc Gasol, the younger brother of Pau Gasol. Well, apparently Marc Gasol is going to remain playing in Spain indefinitely. He currently plays for the league champion Akasvayu Girona, who would like to retain their star athlete if possible. Just listen to this quote by Marc Gasol:

“It’s in my best interests to continue at Girona due to their ambitious sporting project and the great atmosphere in the team. I want to work very hard and improve this coming year.”

What is that supposed to mean? In his best interest? It appears that the brothers Gasol have lost contact with each other, or the Spanish team is playing puppeteer with Marc Gasol’s mouth. Well, either way, the Lakers will benefit a little bit from this, as they will not have to pay Gasol for a while, yet still maintain the rights to this 22-year old player. Even though you won’t get to see Gasol play with Los Angeles Lakers tickets next year, you probably will in a few years.
