Bryant powers through Spurs defense, scores 30 points in Lakers victory

Kobe Bryant came through once against Thursday when the Lakers faced off against the San Antonio Spurs, coming out on top with a 102-97 victory, according to an Associated Press article published Friday, Dec. 14 on the Lakers’ official Web site.

Bryant, with the help of Lamar Odom who had 15 points and  Andrew Bynum with six points and 11 rebounds, contributed greatly to the Lakers lead during the first half of more than ten points, ending at half time with a 51-43 lead. The Spurs were supported by Bruce Bowen, who had 22 points, as well bas Brent Barry with  17 points, Manu Ginobili with 14 points and Fabricio Oberto with 16 rebounds.

“You have to find a way to win a game like this,” Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said in an article published by the LA Times. “They can get ugly, it can get scrappy. We just had to find a combination of guys to go out there and play ball.”

The Lakers will play the next five of six games on the road starting today with another match up against the Golden State Warriors. Winning nine consecutive games and 14 of the past 15 games they’ve played against the Warriors, the Lakers have the upper hand at Golden State’s Oracle Arena.
