Two of three this month, and coming off a 101-94 victory on Sunday over the Miami Heat, the Memphis Grizzlies will face off against the Los Angeles Lakers tonight on their home court, FedEx Forum.
Lakers fans know the stats: During the teams last match up - which was more than nine months ago - Kobe Bryant snuck 60 points past the Grizzlies’ defense, shooting 20-37 from the floor andĀ 17-18 from the free-throw line. Those fans are hoping for a repeat performance and the team is feeling confident, according to an Associated Press article published recently on the Lakers’ official team Web site.
An exciting victory Sunday over the PacersĀ has reissued confidence with the Lakers, who are 12 of 15 and won five out of seven of those games while on the road. Although they haven’t left the Staples Center since Dec. 23, the Lakers have been gaining momentum in the past week and part of that has to do with 7-foot-center Andrew Bynum, whose been averaging 12.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, the Lakers’ site reported.
“Andrew’s playing great,” Lakers’ forward Lamar Odom said. “He’s dominating the ball and everyone’s getting the ball. It’s fun to play like that.”
