Back to Boston

With their backs against the wall, the Los Angeles Lakers showed the Boston Celtics that they’re not ready to go home just yet. The NBA Finals will be heading back to Boston for Game 6 where the Lakers will try to force a seventh game. Down 3-1, L.A. won a seesaw game that saw the momentum shift from team to team throughout the contest. The Lakers got off to a scorching start, dropping 39 points in the first half. But the Celtics once again showed their resiliency by storming back in the second quarter, trimming the Laker lead from 17 to just three at the half. The Lakers then won their first third quarter of the season prior to briefly losing the lead in the final period before finishing just strong enough to secure the victory.

The Lakers have some life left in them, though their habit of losing big leads in this series does worry me. They need to finish games better. Even when it looked like the Lakers had the game wrapped up, they almost turned the ball over in the final seconds which would have given the Celtics a chance to tie the game. The Laker team that played the first quarter of Sunday’s game is a team that can win two games in Boston; the team in the other three quarters is not. Kobe Bryant had a great first quarter, but was unimpressive in the remaining three, but Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom picked up the slack and we finally saw some physical play out of the Lakers’ bigs. With similar physicality and a more consistent effort from Bryant, The Lakers may just be able to pull off a major comeback.

Lakers Let Game 4 Slip Away

The Lakers certainly have their work cut out for them now if they’re to take home the NBA championship. The Lakers were defeated by the Celtics 97-91 in stunning fashion, giving Boston a 3-1 series advantage. The Lakers lead by as many as 24 points during the game and had a cozy 18-point cushion at the half, but the third quarter was a much different story. The Celtics outscored the Lakers 31-15 in the third, ending the quarter on a 21-3 run and taking the wind right out of the Lakers’ sails. The third quarter has been a rough one for L.A. during this series, as Boston has outscored them by double digits in the third period of each of the four contests. Boston went on to outscore L.A. by eight in the final period to seal the deal.

I am not quite ready to count the Lakers completely out of the series. Any other team I would consider to be finished. Thanks to the much maligned 2-3-2 format, Game 5 will be played at The Staples Center and the Lake Show could steal some of the series momentum back with a win there. Going to the TD Bank North Garden, a building in which the Celtics have only lost one game this postseason, and winning two consecutive games is quite the challenge, but I still truly believe that the Lakers are the best team in the NBA, have the best player in the league and have the best coach of all time. No 2008 team would be better equipped to pull it off.

Game 4 Tonight

Tonight the Lakers will square off against the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the NBA finals with a chance to even the series at 2-2. After losing two tight games in Boston, the Lakers made the most of home court by winning Game 3 thanks largely in part to the two man show that was Kobe Bryant and Sasha Vujacic. A Laker win tonight would turn this series into a best of three with all the momentum in L.A.’s favor heading into a Game 5 at home, due to the much maligned 2-3-2 format.

I think the Lakers have a great chance to win Game 4. Kobe finally had a Kobe-like game and they won without getting much from second and third options Paul Gasol and Lamar Odom. For me the real story of Game 3 was the play of Sasha Vujacic. This guy may have essentially saved L.A.’s season. Vujacic, nicknamed “The Machine”, scored 20 points off the bench on 7 of 10 from the field, including 3 of 5 on threes. Vujacic has been an offensive spark off the bench all season and is always looking to score. If the Lakers can get production out of him again, and at least normal production from Gasol and Odom, it’s hard to see the Lakers losing.

Lakers on the Lookout For a Much Needed Win

The Los Angeles Lakers are in desperate need of a win against the Boston Celtics if they want to continue their bid for the NBA Finals title.  The Lakers have lost the last two games and have returned to California to regroup and to try and build up their momentum on the court…looking to star players Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odem and Pau Gasol to carry much of the weight.  The Lakers will have a much needed home court advantage, but it remains to be seen just how well they will do, even on their home turf.

The Boston Celtics are certainly outshining and out-maneuvering the Los Angeles Lakers, who have played an impressive season.  For all Lakers fans this is a nail biting moment and most are convinced that their favorite team will be able to pull off a win in the next game.  Don’t miss out on all of the action on the court and tell all of your friends and family members to get their own Los Angeles Lakers tickets.

Lakers Need to Sharpen Up Defense!

The Los Angeles Lakers need to tighten their game if they want to come back in the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.  Most of their attention should be focused on sharpening their defense, as they clearly have advantages with their offense thanks to the help of star player Kobe Bryant.  Currently the Boston Celtics lead the Los Angles Lakers 2-0 in the best-of-seven series, which will soon shift to the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the next three games.  They have a tough challenge ahead of them as no NBA team has ever come back from an 0-3 deficit in the final.  The next game is important because it could foresee the outcome of the NBA Finals, unless the Lakers are able to pull of some sort of miracle.

The Lakers will build up their momentum and Lakers coach Phil Jackson has said, “I’m not worried about which Celtics team shows up.  I’m worried about what Lakers team shows up.  That’s the one that moves the ball, and we do things well on the offensive end.”  This NBA Finals series is certainly an interesting one and everyone is on the edges of their seats to see who will emerge the winner.  Get your pair of Los Angeles Lakers tickets as soon as possible.

Celtics Hold a 2-0 Series Lead

The Los Angeles Lakers are no doubt a serious team on the court and they provide a great opponent to the talented Boston Celtics, but right now they might be a little bit concerned.  The Celtics hold an almost secure 2-0 lead over the Lakers going into their third game out of seven.  They just have to win two more to become the next NBA champions.  The Lakers must focus about being more attuned to all of the action they are facing on the court.  Of course they also have to be careful not to take it too far.  The last game saw plenty of fouls called on the Los Angeles based team.

During the most recent game, referees called on the Lakers for 28 fouls and the Celtics were able to throw 38 free throws.  Some fans think that this was completely acceptable, while others are more skeptical and still others like head coach Phil Jackson are just utterly appalled.  The Lakers will have to pump up their game if they want to turn the series around.  Kobe Bryant will likely be called upon to help beef up the Lakers offense and defense skills.  Get your own pair of Los Angles Lakers tickets as soon as possible.

The Score So Far: Boston-1 Lakers-0

There still is no way to tell for sure how the NBA Finals will wrap up.  But we can say for certain that the Boston Celtics are in no way deterred by the Los Angeles Lakers recent heap of wins and successes on the court.  The Celtics finished up their night last night with an impressive win over the Lakers, with the final score being: 98-88.  The Celtics probably should look to their star player Paul Pierce who managed to score 15 points in the third quarter.  Kevin Garnett also contributed 24 points for the Celtics and Kobe Bryant matched that for the Lakers, although to no avail.

This marks the eleventh such showdown between the east and west coast teams, the last being in 1987 where the Lakers toppled the Celtics.  This Sunday there will be another match held in Boston, after which the two teams will journey to the sunny state and continue their quest to be the top dogs on the court.  For all basketball fans this is an incredible match-up to watch.  Don’t take your eyes off the court, get your pair of Los Angeles Lakers tickets as soon as possible.

Tonight is the Night!

Tonight the battleground of the NBA will be contested. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics are prepared to go head to head and it’s anyone’s guess who will eventually emerge the winner. The two teams face off in a series of seven games and one time will walk away the victors. This is considered by many fans to be a dream match-up-the Lakers and the Celtics have not met in the Finals since the Lakers beat the Celtics in 1987. The Lakers also boast star player Kobe Bryant, who recently won the MVP title.

Of course the Celitics have a very successful general manager and they boast their own star player in the form of Kevin Garnett. Garnett is respected and admired by all basketball fans and he is a good match up against Kobe Bryant. No one knows how these games will play out, which of course makes it all the more exciting and we will have to wait and see what valuable talents all the team players bring to the court. Lakers and Celtics Gear Up For the Challenge

One of the oldest rivalries is about to spark up between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics.  In their last meeting in the NBA finals the Lakers trounced the Celtics-but it’s anyone’s game this time around.  The best of seven games that kicks off tomorrow night will be the 11th time that the two teams have faced each other for the NBA crown.  Boston won eight of their record 16 titles against the Lakers, although LA won the last of two of their encounters in the NBA showpiece in both 1985 and 1987.

The Celtics have actually not been champions since 1986 but they are seeking to get off to a good start tomorrow night.  Both teams have extreme talents on the court and boast some amazing players who know how to maneuver around the court.  Both Pierce and Bryant are experienced and know how to really challenge their opposing team.  Make sure to join in the excitement with your very own pair of Los Angeles Lakers tickets from stubhub.com.

Derek Fisher and the Los Angeles Lakers

Derek Fisher is ready for action.  The Lakers are set to face off against the Celtics in the NBA finals that begin on Thursday night in Boston.  Fisher was quoted in article by the Associated Press as saying, “This doesn’t come around every season, and there have been hundreds of guys that have played many years in this league and really not gotten this opportunity.  So you have to cherish it and appreciate it, and that’s what feels good about it.”  Fisher signed a three-year $14 million contract with the Lakers.

One thing about the Lakers is the camaraderie is very high among the players.  He plays alongside such greats as Kobe Bryant, who recently was awarded the honor of MVP, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odem.  The match-up against the Lakers and the Celtics will most likely draw nationwide attention from all NBA fans.  If you want to keep tabs on the Lakers, make sure to tune in, or better yet, get your pair of Los Angeles Lakers tickets from Stubhub.com.
