It appears as if the Lakers schedule is working in heir favor, as seven of their next eight games are home games and just three of them are against teams with winning records. The Lakers are the NBA’s only undefeated team and after a two-game sweep at Dallas and New Orleans, news of the upcoming schedule is only helping them continue their winning streak. When told of the schedule for the next 16 days, Lakers coach Phil Jackson told the L.A. Times, “Wow. We’re not thinking about anything but once game at a time, and that’s a hard concept right now because when things start going well, you start anticipating that, ‘Oh, yeah, we’re going to win games easily.’ There’s no such thing in this game.”
The Lakers will play Detroit tonight and upcoming games will be against Chicago, New Jersey, Sacramento and Dallas. For their only road game in the next two weeks, the Lakers will travel to Phoenix. Lakers’ Lamar Odom told the Times that they don’t plan on taking any team lightly because more wins usually mean fewer practices, in other words the players get more time off the better they do. As of now the Lakers will probably take a day off Saturday or Sunday.
