The Chicago Bears spent Wednesday adding to and subtracting from their roster. They released offensive guard Terrence Metcalf and added free safety Josh Bullocks. The need for Bullocks was clear after the Bears let go Mike Brown and are not yet confident in Craig Steltz. Jeff Nalley is the agent for both of the players, and he commented that Metcalf had requested the release.
Nalley also commented on Bullocks, saying, “Josh fits what the Bears are looking for—he is big and athletic with range and ball skills. The Bears’ defensive scheme and players will allow him to do what he does best.”
Bullocks spend the last four seasons with the New Orleans Saints. In that time, he tallied 256 tackles, one sack, 24 passes defended and six interceptions. Bullocks signed a one-year deal with the Bears that guarantees him $525,000. He lost his starting job at the end of his career with the Saints because of coverage issues.
A knee injury kept Metcalf from starting last year, and he also was suspended for four games last season for violating the league’s drug policy. The Bears also have guards Dan Buenning and Josh Beekman. Be there to cheer them all on with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.com.
