On the morning on August 13 three people were arrested in nationwide raids in connection with the unrest after the Lakers’ NBA championship victory, according to the L.A. Times. Lt. Erik Ruble of Los Angeles County Sheriif’s Department’s transit services bureau, which provides law enforcement services for the Metropolitan Transit Authority, said that the 6:00a.m. raids on August 13 involved at least two dozen sites. Ruble said that the three people arrested on August 13 were picked up for parole violations unrelated to the street violence.
According to the L.A. Times, deputies are targeting a specific South Los Angeles Gang whose members are suspected to have damaged several rail cars, buses and other MTA propert during the downtown riots after the Lakers’ NBA championship victory in June.
