According to Hoopsvibe.com, brand-new Laker Ron Artest recently took to his Twitter account to make the following statement: “Houston did me dirty. I can’t wait til next year when we go to Houston. I’m not shooting. All defense. Somebody getting locked da fu** up. I still feel blessed but they messed up my bird rights. So it’s on as long as I’m in the league.” Ron Artest likely felt like he deserved more consideration from Houston during free agency; he did help the Rockets advance to the second round of the NBA Finals and push the eventual champion Los Angeles Lakers to seven games, after all.
Houston’s General Manager Daryl Morey didn’t fight to sign Artest, and while the lockdown defender did behave for Rick Adelman everything changed when Yao Ming got injured. The career-threatening injury meant that Houston had to re-evaluate their circumstances with no superstar on their roster, and decided not to give Artest a multi-year contract. Says Hoopsvibe.com, “Whatever the reason, the lockdown defender felt slighted by the lack of love from Houston. To be fair, Artest was the featured player on an undermanned, blue-collar squad that beat Portland and nearly upset Los Angels this past playoff. Now after signing with the Lakers, he has jiffy marked on the calendar games versus the Rockets.”
