Sun Yue Signs with the Knicks

According to the New York Times, 6-foot-9 guard Sun Yue has inked a deal with the New York Knicks. Yue’s agent Charles Bonsignore told the Times that the Knicks signed Sun to a partly guaranteed contract. The Los Angeles Lakers drafted Sun Yue in the second round in 2007 and he spent last leason as a reserve for the Lakers. In addition, the Knicks signed two additional players to partly guaranteed deals: forward Warren Carter (who played overseas the past two years) and point guard Gabe Pruitt (who played with the Boston Celtics for the past two years). Carter, Pruitt and Yue will be invited to training camp, which kicks off in Saratoga Springs, New York on September 29.

23-year-old Sun Yue is known as the Chinese Magic Johnson in his homeland. Yue signed with the Lakers after averaging 6.8 points and 2.5 assists a game for the Chinese national team in the Beijing Olympics. Although Yue spent most of last season on the inactive roster (and was waived in July), he did win an NBA championship while with the Lakers.
