Wicked is showing no signs of slowing, but I daresay that fans of the musical and fans of the book are more than happy about that! The Winnie Holzman-Stephen Schwartz phenomenon is based on the book by Gregory Maguire and surely even Frank L. Baum himself would be proud of the prequels, sequels and adaptations that his original “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” brought forth.

Wicked is One Great Musical!

If the musical Wicked was produced by Universal Pictures, does that mean that there is going to be a movie made? There has been no talk of such antics, but one must always question whether the success of a storyline in one genre of entertainment is going to be manipulated into all the other possible genres of entertainment. For its part, Wicked began as a book, and was adapted into a musical for the stage. It seems there is always one more step that can be taken, to either make a storyline even more popular, or oversaturate the public and ruin itself.

For the time being at least, however, Wicked exists only as a musical in addition to the original book. It seems like it would be silly to try to do any more adapting to the storyline anyway, being as it is that the musical is easily one of hte most successful shows of all time, with audiences flocking to the theaters and filling up houses night after night.
